About Ibrahim Hatibu

Ibrahim Hatibu has over 24 four years of humanitarian Assistance and development work focusing on both host and displaced populations in several countries including Liberia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Indonesia, Pakistan and Kenya. I have also conducted consultancies and short assignments in Pakistan, Ethiopia, Sudan and Saudi Arabia. Hatibu’s track of service is founded on exceptional leadership, sound people management skills, Strategic leadership, capacity building and humanitarian coordination, Project management, training, research and presentation skills. Hatibu has proven expertise in multiple sectors including Human rights, Education, Self-reliance, Community Based Rehabilitation, Child Protection, Integrated Livelihoods, Youth Empowerment, Gender Justice, Community resilience and climate Change adaptation.

Hatibu brings forth broad multi-cultural context working experience across several countries and has sound knowledge of global quality and accountability initiatives and has undertaken various long-term and short-term Humanitarian and Development assignments in multiple countries including Liberia, Kenya, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan. Hatibu has worked with several reputable organizations including International Rescue Committee, Oxfam IBIS, Care International, Save the Children, Help Age International, Danish refugee Council, RedR UK (Associate), ICS Kenya and, the Consortium for Assistance towards Recovery in Indonesia (CARDI).

Hatibu has both academic and life-long experience in Peace and conflict transformation, Education, facilitation, Personal safety and security and, Project Management. In addition. Hatibu has successfully undertaken International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance and certificate in participatory monitoring and evaluation, PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner certificates.

Hatibu is a seasoned trainer with sound facilitation ability in several fields including Sphere Minimum Standards in Humanitarian assistance, Humanitarian Quality & Accountability, Managing Training, Project Management, Programme design, PMD Pro, Training of Trainers, Strategic Planning and Leadership. I am also an associate trainer with RedR and recently facilitated for RedR training on Kenya Inter-agency Rapid Assessment (KIRA), Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction, Logistics in Emergencies, Leadership, Context Programme, Do No Harm Programming, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) – now part of the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and Essentials of Humanitarian Practice.

In recent times, Hatibu has lead/facilitated several strategic planning sessions, end-line project evaluations and reviews, Organizational Capacity Assessment, development of quality and accountability frameworks and capacity building plans, training content design, and project management. Hatibu offers an enviable track record of high quality organizational and staff capacity building in various fields including project management, monitoring and evaluation, Rights based programming, Leadership, Resource Mobilization, strategic planning, facilitation and development of programme quality and accountability frameworks gained over years of work in development and relief humanitarian contexts. I also have sound exposure to working with communities and Civil Society Organizations, Local authorities, donors and communities in Africa and Asia.

Hatibu is an exceptional communicator with sound English and Kiswahili language skills, able to write, read, listen and speak flawlessly with Native-level fluency and accuracy. He cherishes working collaboratively in a team environment guided by mature judgment and critical thinking. He enjoys establishing and reaching targets, both for himself and for the team. He is innovative and creative in addressing learning solutions adaptable to varied contexts and learners.

As a facilitator, Hatibu is adept at execution of experiential and action oriented learning with strong emphasis on creativity and participatory approaches. Skilled at encouraging participants to actively participate, share practical experiences and practice real issues within the organizations in a fun-filled learning process. Hatibu ventures beyond book-written content to help participants to translate theory into practice by relating class work to daily experiences at their place of work.
