About Ayenew Bekele Moges
Ayenew Bekele is experienced professional with diverse sets of skills and knowledge encompassing humanitarian and development areas of interventions.
He holds an MA in Development studies from Addis Ababa University and BSc in Disaster Risk Management from Bahir dar University.
Ayenew has been committed and versatile humanitarian practitioner since 2013, accumulating a rich and extensive experience across various roles including Disaster Risk Management project officer, Disaster Risk Management policy mainstreaming officer, Disaster Risk Reduction and rehabilitation officer, CoVID-19 preparedness and response coordinator, National Coordinator for Conflict and Pandemic preparedness and response capacity building project in Ethiopia, National Emergency Response coordinator, Country Coordinator for Consortium projects.
Ayenew has a wealth of experience in Food security and livelihoods, Wash, MPC, DRR, Protection, Health and nutrition, education and other cross cutting issues like inclusion, environment, gender and climate change, with an in-depth understanding of the humanitarian landscape.
He has played a pivotal role in organizing multiple Sphere training sessions in Ethiopia and realizing the first Sphere TOT. Notably, he jointly organized five series of sphere and CHS trainings and TOT for 33 humanitarian organizations comprised of UN agencies, INGOs and local organizations for 91 participants across the country. He is also sphere focal point in Ethiopia since 2023, responsible for advocating and promoting Sphere standard application across the country.
Moreover, he has solid experiences in facilitating disaster rid reduction/climate change mitigation, disaster preparedness and response plan, Core humanitarian standards (CHS), Disaster Risk Management, Cash voucher assistance (CVA), Disaster Risk Mainstreaming, project management, amongst others.
Currently, he is serving as country coordinator to Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) program based at SOS children’s villages, in charge pf leading and coordinating consortium partners working on multisectoral, integrated and complementary responses to people in need of assistance.
Lastly but not least, as a recent Sphere TOT graduate in Ethiopia, subsequently, I facilitated two Sphere face to face trainings for diverse groups organized by Concern Worldwide, as well as co-facilitated a Sphere TOT organized by CST – Ethiopia in 2024.
