Ece has been contributing to the humanitarian relief sector in the fields of disaster preparedness and response, disaster logistics, social services, international humanitarian operations, project-based humanitarian relief and migrant protection in her professional working life since 2002 at Turkish Red Crescent Society (TRCS).
She completed the Training of Trainers (ToT) given by TRCS in 2003 and played an important role in the preparation of the “Disaster Preparedness and Response Training” course, which is one of the compulsory trainings that all TRCS staff receive, and served as a trainer for many years.
She completed the “ToT of Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response” in Geneva in 2014 and has undertaken duties under the umbrella of TRCS in the dissemination of Sphere standards since 2014. For instance, she contributed to the Turkish translation of the 2011 edition of the Sphere Handbook and made copies available to the TRCS staff. She contributed to the integration of the “Humanitarian Charter and Humanitarian Standards” module into the above-mentioned “Disaster Preparedness and Response Training” course and has increased Sphere awareness in dozens of other trainings.
Ece went on to contribute to the Turkish translation of the 2018 edition of the Sphere Handbook, of which 1000 copies have been printed (as of July 2023). She has also translated all Sphere training materials into Turkish (including Sphere Training Facilitator’s Guide – 2018, presentations, quizzes, answer sheets, case studies, exercises, handouts, templates etc.).
She continues to work as a trainer for TRCS, in cooperation with national and international non-governmental organizations, within the scope of disseminating the Sphere Standards and Sphere Handbook in Turkey.
