Using Sphere standards in urban contexts is a new online training that has been co-developed by Sphere and the German Red Cross.
This training promotes an inclusive, rights-based and people-centred response to disasters in urban areas, via the contextualisation and application of Sphere minimum humanitarian standards.
The first two days of the training use practical exercises, based on the Ukraine conflict, to demonstrate the complexities of the urban setting as well as the relevance of Sphere standards. The final tabletop exercise on day 3 enables participants to apply their learning to an imaginary city in crisis, in an interactive and exciting group simulation game.
Please see the agenda for more detailed information.
We are inviting potential facilitators and trainers to this training. The best way to learn how to facilitate this training is by first attending it as a participant. You will be able to observe how experienced Sphere trainers Aya Yagan and Stephen Blakemore facilitate the different modules.
The training will be followed by optional mentoring sessions to explore how participants can start facilitating this training to others should they wish (date to be confirmed).
