    Full Members

Full Members are organisations whose core activities focus on assisting and protecting people and communities affected by crisis. As part of the Sphere community, they champion quality and accountable humanitarian action by promoting and supporting the practical application of the Sphere standards within their organisations, networks, and areas of work.

Full Members play an active role in shaping Sphere’s strategic direction and contribute to the development, promotion, and advancement of humanitarian standards. Eligible organisations include NGOs, NGO networks, members of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, UN agencies, donor agencies, national disaster management authorities, academic institutions, standard-setting bodies, foundations, and private sector organisations.

  • Individual Members

    Individual Members

Individual Members are humanitarian professionals and practitioners who are committed to advancing Sphere’s vision of quality and accountable humanitarian action. Through their expertise, experience, and engagement, they contribute to promoting the practical application of the Sphere standards and strengthening the global humanitarian community.

Individual Members participate in Sphere’s learning, dialogue, and governance opportunities while helping to shape the future of humanitarian standards.

  • Membership Fees

    Membership fees

Sphere took the bold step to significantly reduce its membership fees in 2021 to ensure its membership is representative of the humanitarian community.

The membership fee is an investment in achieving the collective vision of Sphere. Membership fees provide essential funding for the running of the organisation, while allowing us to leverage substantial grants from major donors so we can achieve our shared vision.

Sphere would not be financially viable without annual membership fees. We operate on a tight budget, overseen on behalf of members by our Governing Board.

Fees for Full Members are calculated on the basis of the member organisation’s annual revenue (in CHF).
