In 2018, a revised fourth edition of The Sphere Handbook was launched followed by a new developed Sphere training package. This revision has led to numerous innovations and improvements, which require to inform and train humanitarian aid workers accordingly and to draw attention to the effects these innovations have on the quality of our project activities.

Therefore, global Sphere trainings at regional level have been developed in cooperation with Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe and World Vision. These projects are funded by the Federal Foreign Office in Germany and support capacity sharing and knowledge expansion of the most widely referenced set of humanitarian principles and standards.

Now, Aktion Deutschland Hilft together with the Inter Agency Working Group East & Central Africa would kindly like to invite you to the 5-day Sphere-Training from October, 28th to Novermber, 1st, 2019, in Kenya, Nairobi.

The first days of the intensive training provide an opportunity to introduce the four foundation chapters as main component of Sphere: What is Sphere?, the Humanitarian Charter, the Protection Principles as well as the Core Humanitarian Standard. The remaining days enable the participants to experience the four technical chapters in-depth and to use Sphere in practice. (The detailed agenda will be shared with the final participants).

Target group:
Participants for the training will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Local field practitioners and mid-level managers
