A series of twelve in-person Sphere workshops will be held across all eleven of Mozambique’s provinces. Selected workshop graduates will be invited to join a five-day Sphere Training of Trainers workshop in Maputo at the beginning of December.
The workshops will be delivered by the Centre for Humanitarian Analytics (CHA) in partnership with Comité Ecuménico para o Desenvolvimento Social (CEDES) and Tearfund Mozambique.
The CHA, led by Dr. Wonder Mufunda, is a Sphere Focal Point in neighbouring Zimbabwe.
Sphere Focal Points have come together to make this training possible
“We are delighted to be working with CHA on delivering this training, which will develop the capacity of humanitarian actors in Mozambique to respond promptly and effectively to crises. We believe strongly in working closely with local partners and we have a network of at least 54 partner organisations around the world.”
says Dr Balwant Singh, Executive Director of Sphere.
“This training has been made possible by the translation of the Sphere Handbook into Portuguese earlier this year by Sphere’s Focal Point in Brazil, Fraternidade-Federação Humanitária Internacional. We are very grateful to them for making Sphere Standards more accessible to the Portuguese speaking world.”
How can humanitarian actors in Mozambique apply to join a workshop?
Sphere welcomes applications from anyone involved in the humanitarian response in Mozambique.

As these workshops will be oversubscribed, priority will be given to those who are most likely to benefit from the training and to widely disseminate their new knowledge to their partners and colleagues. Additionally, the organisers will strive to ensure that each group of learners is diverse and balanced in terms of gender, job role and type of employer.
