About the guidance

The Sphere Handbook and the other Humanitarian Standards Partnership (HSP) initiatives offer guidance on the minimum response all crisis-affected people have the right to expect. They establish what needs to be in place for affected populations to survive and recover with dignity. Two guidance documents based on humanitarian standards are currently available:

• A four-page document focusing on applying the Sphere standards in Coronavirus responses (download your preferred language);
• An updated version that also includes recommendations based on the Core Humanitarian Standard and other humanitarian standards initiatives (download the June 2020 update, in English, Bengali, Nepali and Portuguese).
